Born and raised in Northern Virginia, Matty has been playing music his entire life. in 2023, Kara, Matty's best friend, music & parenting partner, and beloved bride of 20 years finished her final battle with breast cancer and crossed the great divide. Grief therapy came in many forms including physical exercise, time away, and yoga, but nothing opened the steam release valve as much as slowly chipping away at the monument of of their life together by writing about it.

    Matty's first song written in almost 30 years was the less personal "Maybe it's You", which explored the setting of a misunderstanding in a doomed young relationship. Armed with confidence from this that he could continue to create, Matty then set off to write more personal themes. From these sessions came "Still Alive", "The Mountain & The Sea", and the debut single "Edge of a Hurricane". 

    Matty continues to play covers and originals at somewhere around 160 shows a year, and is currently writing for a full-length follow up to the 4 previously mentioned singles due for release in 2026. His writing continues to explore themes of grief, relationships, and trauma and personal growth. Catch him at a live show slamming loops but not booze, taking requests but not breaks, and telling jokes that aren't very funny.
